Learn about the history of Rancho Santa Anita with Mitchell Hearns Bishop, Curator of the Historic Section of The Arboretum. The Arboretum’s landscape encapsulates the history of Southern California in one location, ranging from prehistory to citrus growing and ranching. In the post-war period, the founding of The Arboretum, now a world class botanic garden and historic site, made the survival of the heart of Rancho Santa Anita possible.
